We all know that Students are always placed in sections based on their strengths: those excelling in science subjects join the science section, those strong in arts subjects enter the arts section, and those best in business-related subjects are placed in the commercial section.
The 9 Science Subjects To Write in WAEC 2026/2027
In WAEC, candidates can register for 7 to 9 subjects, allowing flexibility based on their preference, despite potential consequences. But there are compulsory subjects that are required to be registered by all science students. They include: English language, Mathematics, Civic Education, Economics, and A trade or vocational subject.
The 9 Science Subjects To Write in WAEC 2026 are:

- Physics
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Geography
- Civic Education
- A trade subject.
These 5 categories of subjects are expected to be in the WAEC subject selection of every science student, even though there may be some exceptions, as always.
WAEC offers over 30 trade subjects as optional choices, allowing candidates, including science students, to include vocational subjects in their combination. However, science students are not required to take trade subjects and can explore other options like Languages (Igbo, Hausa, and Yoruba), Further Mathematics, and Technical drawing.
