Foundations of Physical Education
This section focuses on the theoretical background and development of physical education. Candidates are expected to understand key principles and philosophies introduced by founding fathers such as Dudley Sargent, Thomas Wood, John Dewey, and Hetherington, as well as how physical education has evolved over time.
It also covers recreation and sports management, including the differences between recreation, leisure, and work, as well as concepts like intramural and extramural sports and tournament formats such as knockout and league systems. In addition, candidates should study the history of sports and the Olympic Games, including ancient Greek festivals like the Olympian and Pythian games and the development of the modern Olympic movement.
Basic Human Anatomy and Physiology in Physical Education
This area deals with how the human body functions during physical activity. It includes the structure and function of body systems such as the skeletal, muscular, respiratory, and circulatory systems. Students are expected to understand how these systems work together to support movement, endurance, and performance in sports. Knowledge of body posture, fitness components, energy systems, and the effects of exercise on the body is also important for both theory and practical applications.
Athletics and Games Performance
This section focuses on practical sports performance, especially in track and field events and common team games. Candidates should be familiar with basic techniques, rules, and scoring systems in athletics such as running, jumping, and throwing events. It also includes major games like football, basketball, volleyball, and handball, with emphasis on skills development, teamwork, and application of tactics during competition. Practical ability and understanding of rules are key to success in this area.
